Cheese & More Liebfrauenberg

Frankfurt am Main is the largest city in the German state of Hesse and the fifth largest city in Germany. The city was first mentioned as Frankonovurd at the end of the eighth century. In the following centuries, the city grew and in the High Middle Ages Frankfurt obtained the status of a free imperial city. In the free city of Frankfurt, the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire were elected and later crowned for several centuries.

Frankfurt has grown into a European metropolis and has almost all the characteristics of a metropolis. Its central location, international airport, motorway junction Frankfurter Kreuz and railway station make the city a major transport hub within Germany and Europe. Frankfurt is one of the few European cities dominated by tall skyscrapers. To this, the city owes its nickname Mainhattan.
